PLAD Principal Process
Engineer - MA
You will contribute to the research and development of a
next generation program targeting new large market which
requires highly reliable integrated cryogenic systems.
You will be responsible for designing, testing,
qualifying and manufacturing our next generation product
for this marketplace.
This position requires a comprehensive knowledge of:
thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, helium-cryogenics and
heat transfer. Experience in the use of CAD software
such as ProEngineer (Pro/E), and FEA software such as
ANSYS. Experience with mechanical cryocoolers is a plus.
Experienced in the design, manufacture and commissioning
of cryogenic systems, preferably related to next
generation smart grid systems requiring:
 |
Competence in several
areas of mechanical engineering with emphasis on
mechanical stress analysis, structures, thermodynamics,
fluid mechanics, heat transfer, vacuum technology and
cryogenics. |
 |
The industrial use of
cryogenic refrigeration in a high reliability low
maintenance industrial application. |
 |
Experience in resource
and project planning including development of work
assignments with task and schedule constraints;
directing other engineers, designers and
fabrication/installation technicians. |
 |
The ability to
understand customer needs and match the system operation
to meet the customer needs at the maximum possible
efficiency. |
 |
Experience in the
selection of components and evaluation of various
options based on cost and schedule. |
 |
Pressure vessel and
piping code knowledge and the ability to perform the
required analysis. |
 |
Working knowledge of
machine shop, fabrication techniques and systems
hardware. |
 |
The ability to lead
and manage multiple tasks with cost and schedule
constraints. |
 |
Ability to perform
thermodynamic and fluid dynamic calculations for
cryogenic liquid and gas systems. |
 |
Ability to perform
stress analyses of mechanical systems subjected to
thermal stresses and pressure loads. |
 |
Experience in design,
testing, transient FEA and fluid dynamics analysis in a
sub-cooled and pressurized liquid nitrogen environment
Experience in current lead design in liquid nitrogen
environment. |
 |
Cryogenics systems
design and integration - including cryostat and transfer
line designs, cryogenics instrumentation and control
systems. |
 |
Detailed understanding
of Industry standards and best practices with respect to
cryogenic refrigeration from a systems integration to
practical integration methodology. |
 |
Experience with
Superconductivity and electrical integration into a
cryogenic environment. |
 |
High voltage
experience is a plus but not required
Minimum BSME (MSME preferred) with 8 -10 years of
relevant engineering experience in cryogenic system
design and manufacture. Ability to perform thermodynamic
and fluid dynamic calculations for cryogenic liquid and
gas systems with a strong knowledge of cryogenic systems
is a must. Experience in using and safely handling
cryogenic systems and materials as well as laboratory
experience with physics and science equipment and
instrumentation is preferred. Knowledge of high vacuum
systems is an advantage. Background supporting
scientific research is highly preferred. Design and
integration as well as proven technical leadership
skills and the ability to work with a dynamic fast
moving team. Operational knowledge of Windows and MS
Office products and proficiency in Excel required.
This position involves access to export controlled
technology which is subject to U.S. Department of
Commerce export control regulations. Otherwise qualified
